It's been a while indeed, The past four months or so events in my life have been very tumultuous. I've been dealing with a lot of unpleasant things and at this point I definitely feel I'm not the same person I was less than half a year ago. Though ultimately I think it's all shaping up for the better, I have since been distancing myself from my online presence while I work this out.

I apologize to everyone I've neglected to keep in touch with but I'm slowly re-integrating into the online swing of things so I hope to make myself a bit more visible in the coming days~

I've got a good bit of work to scan and upload, so I hope what few regulars I have left will enjoy what I've been up to, stay tuned!

Hey, Hos.  Since you do digital, maybe you can give me some advice on what to get.  I'm looking at Photoshop and Illustrator, of course.  What else is necessary or good to have?  I've heard good things about Manga Studio 5, ArtRage, Sketchbook Pro.  What would you put on a wishlist of must-have graphics editing programs if money were no object?

Hey bossman,

Sorry for the delay, I think I saw in your recent journal you've already reached a general consensus regarding digital editing programs.  Though I'll still toss in my two cents.

Since I've started working digitally (and I don't do it as often as I probably should) I've used photoshop almost exclusively. And now that adobe is offering the CS2 suite for free there I would highly recommend you give it a shot! I have photoshop cs2 on my laptop and cs4 on my PC, and they perform practically the same. I've also heard great stuff about Manga Studio from my friend who has converted to that from photoshop.  I would love to try it myself someday but I tend to gravitate to to things with 'FREE' on the pricetag ;) and with cs2 being free I'd say that's the best bang for your buck~ And I saw in your journal that these older versions seem to work fine on windows 8 so that's a big bonus.

And the great thing is there's countless video tutorials online so you wont be left in the dark using an unfamiliar program.

haven't forgotten the nibs, Tex.  Things are kind of hairy between the snow and various emergencies.  I'll come through for ya, though . . .

BTW - do you write your own scripts?  Do you have anything in your portfolio showing an original story that you wrote and illustrated?

No worries brother! I'm in no huge rush~  I've got some nibs to send you in exchange as well, either zap me your address sometime or I'll just use your return address  once I get your envelope .

As for the scripts, at this point  I've only drawn stuff I've 'written' myself, although it's usually very skeletal and bare, writing always poses a problem for  me, I spend so long trying to make something up that I don't have enough  time to draw it, augh!

haha.  Thanks!
I understand.  Doing both is a trial.  But, you know, there's still a tradition that demands one do both, and, personally, that's where I want to be.  So, we gotta buck up and just do it.  Like anything else, it gets easier with practice.
